Football in Uruguay

The world's game, on tour

School football tours, or soccer tours if that is what you call it at home. Football is the sport most of the world plays, which gives a touring team more choice of opposition than any other code. We will be honest about where we are at. Our touring history is strongest in rugby, hockey and volleyball, and football is a code we are building on the same foundations: the schools, clubs and people we already know. If you have a football side that wants to tour, tell us the level and the dates and we will show you what we can put together.

Uruguay is a ferry crossing from Buenos Aires over the Río de la Plata, which makes it a natural second country on an Argentine tour. We build Montevideo in as a two or three day leg: a game against local opposition, the old town and the port market, and a walk along the Rambla before the ferry back. It suits teams that want more than one stamp in the passport without adding long travel days.

Football Tours in Argentina and Uruguay

14 days

A two country football tour. Uruguay hosted and won the first World Cup in 1930 and won it again in 1950, and for a country of about three and a half million people, football is close to everything. Montevideo is a ferry ride from Buenos Aires, so this trip gives a squad Argentina and Uruguay in one go. Football is a newer code for us, so fixtures are arranged fresh for your level, with partners on the ground we have worked with for years. When to go: junior football in both countries follows the school year, from March to December, so every New Zealand term break lands in season.

Before you ask

Questions, answered

How much does a tour cost?

Every tour is quoted individually because every tour is built around your team — sport, level, dates and budget. Tell us what a great trip looks like and we will come back with an honest price and a first draft itinerary.

Can we customise our itinerary?

Yes — no two tours are the same. Every Brock Sports tour starts with your team, your sport and your goals, and we build it with you, fixture by fixture.

What is included in the price?

Every quote sets it out plainly. A typical tour covers games, training, accommodation, transport, breakfasts and dinners, and the cultural and sightseeing programme. Lunches and personal travel insurance are usually separate, and we will spell out anything else that is.

Which meals are included?

Breakfasts and dinners are included as standard. Lunches are usually at your own cost, so players can choose for themselves.

What happens if the weather turns?

We adjust the day and offer a suitable alternative wherever we can. It is New Zealand, so we plan with the weather in mind.

Do you run multi sport school tours?

Yes, it is the tour we run most. Recent school groups have travelled with rugby, hockey and volleyball teams together, and with rugby, basketball, hockey and handball. Boys and girls teams tour as one party and play on the same days where we can.
