Why Japan
Japanese teams prepare with a discipline and work rate that visiting players talk about long after they get home, and they host with the same care. A tour here is as much about how the game is prepared as how it is played. From New Zealand, Japan is a direct flight of about eleven hours and only three or four hours behind us, so a school team lands ready to play. School sport there runs through after school clubs that train most days of the year. Rugby has boomed since the 2019 World Cup, football has a national high school championship that fills stadiums, and basketball has grown quickly since Japan helped host the 2023 World Cup. We have people on the ground in both Japan and New Zealand, and we are building this destination through them, one relationship at a time. That means we take on only what we know we can deliver well. How far ahead should we plan?
For schools, 12 to 24 months gives the best fixture and venue options. We can move faster when needed.
How much does a tour cost?
Every tour is quoted individually because every tour is built around your team — sport, level, dates and budget. Tell us what a great trip looks like and we will come back with an honest price and a first draft itinerary.
How does the planning process work?
It starts with a conversation with Geoff or Cole, usually on a video call, about your team, your sport and your dates. We come back with a proposal and an honest price. Once you confirm, we lock in games, accommodation and transport. Match details are confirmed with the host schools and clubs at least three weeks before you leave, and you get the final sports schedule at least two weeks out.
What is included in the price?
Every quote sets it out plainly. A typical tour covers games, training, accommodation, transport, breakfasts and dinners, and the cultural and sightseeing programme. Lunches and personal travel insurance are usually separate, and we will spell out anything else that is.
How long is a tour?
Anything from 7 to 21 days. Two weeks is the most common, which leaves time for four games and a proper look at the country.
How big can our group be?
We host groups of 20 to 100. Larger parties usually travel as a boys group and a girls group on their own coaches.
